Winter sowing in the permaculture garden

,

Are you looking to extend the season and enjoy early vegetables and salad? In this video Rebecca Smith teaches us about winter sowing – a method of sowing hardy and half-hardy annuals outside directly onto frozen soils in mid to late winter (after December). Winter sowing gives early yields in April / May and a head start to seedlings in areas where slugs are a problem! It frees up time in spring when gardeners are at their most busy. You can expect spring onions, early carrots and fresh watercress in May!

Rebecca runs Seversgarden on Byrknesøy and has many years of experience with winter sowing and permaculture!
